Adopted

Since the beginning WMERR has assisted over 250 equines find new, responsible and loving homes. Below are just a few of our equine friends placed through the efforts of the organization. They are now rehabilitated, healthy and thriving after suffering, in some cases years, of abuse and/or neglect. WMERR works hard to make a difference and puts to use almost every dollar donated towards the welfare of the animals in our care. Your support matters!

BELLE: 22 years young, this beauty is a lot of fun under saddle! 15 hh QH mare, easy keeper, no issues. Sweet disposition, easy to be around, good with other horses. Ground ties, mild arthritis, stands quietly for grooming, saddling, mounting block and mounting. She walks out nicely! She has a good trot and has energy! Ridden with longer shank snaffle, neck reins. Intermediate/experienced rider. $350.00 Adoption Fee to approved home. Current on everything.

SISSY: Are you a true horseman looking for the "perfect match" in an equine partner? Look no further! Sissy is a 2008 registered QH red dun mare, 15.1 hh. We just cannot say enough good things about her (If she were a gelding for sale on the open market, he'd be priced at $3500-$4000). Due to her owners health issues, she loved Sissy enough to let someone else have the pleasure of owning her. Sissy came with NO BAGGAGE, responsibly and well cared for with good foundation training under saddle. She likes people, wants to be with you and pays attention to you. She does not over react to anything. Stands quietly for mounting at a mounting block, doesn't move until asked. Sissy is very intelligent, wicked smart, enjoys doing a variety of things (clinics, following cattle, trail rides and so on). She has minimal experience with trail riding, great to ride off alone, not herd bound. She has good feet and is perfect for the farrier. Videos under saddle available on request. Teeth floated, UTD on worming/vaccinations.

PETUNIA: 2005 QH mare, Petunia is a looker!  She needs a patient, confident leader as she has serious confidence issues, can be on high alert and over react. She loves grooming and attention, is sound, gets along well with others, loads and trailers well, backs out. She's had issues with her withers/back, has had regular chiropractic and cranial sacral appointments. She prefers being ridden in a light weight saddle or bareback pad.  She's had lots of round pen/arena work, and has been ridden on local trails three times without issue. Has really good feet. Please understand this mare is NOT for a beginner or novice person, only true horseman should apply to adopt her.

Lava Belle: Lava Belle is a 2008 BLM Mustang from Lava Sands, Nevada. She has lived out of her element in Virginia and North Carolina since she was a yearling and developed an excruciating allergy to no-see-ums. Her allergy to pyrethrin is a tragedy! Her owners decided that Lava needed a new home in a new environment and made the sacrifice to send her across the country and to WMERR's care. Lava spent the fall and winter in Montana and her skin has recovered nicely. She is ALL Mustang mare. Her petite self is BIG with personality and attitude. Lava has been in training to evaluate her, tune up her manners and riding cues.

Jake: Hi, I'm Jake, and I need a new place to be, even just for a little while. I got moved from my home and my friends, feeling displaced. I'm 17, kind of average height (15 hh). I'm a good boy, try hard to please, good manners. I was abused when I was younger, pretty protective of my hind end these days, but I could learn to trust a human again if they were patient and I could trust them. I enjoy trail riding, don't really care for arena work but could once in awhile. I got my physical and teeth done yesterday so ready to go!

UPDATE: Jake is going to live with Heather Holt and be a needed companion for "Little", aka "Cinnamon" (whom we rescued two years ago) who is mourning the loss of her beloved "grandpa" Kit.

Chex and Bleu: These two girls need to go to a new home. The current owner realizes that she is not up to being a horse owner. Both Chex (red roan) and Bleu (blue roan) were purchased from a breeder's sale as 6 month old fillies. They have been together ever since. They are 15.1 hh and 1100 lbs each. Both are up to date, have no baggage, and no neglect or abuse. Both have been started under saddle and can be ridden bareback with just a halter at a walk, trot and canter. We have videos, but can only text to send them as they are too big to email or send via Facebook. The videos were taken 2 weeks ago, their first rides since last fall, bareback with a halter at walk, trot and canter. Chex with a little girl sitting in front of her mother at all gaits! It seems that Chex and Bleu have good minds!

Grace and Destiny

After saving these two lovely girls as weanlings from a Texas sale yard (mothers sold to kill buyer) and caring for them for over 3 years, their owner released them into our care. Destiny and Grace, together like twins, are two of our newest arrivals. Even though they had not been in a trailer since coming up from Texas, they loaded and went to their new accommodations with a local retired trainer, Vince Felty, almost like pros. Vince has generously offered to "work" with them. He says they are so smart and he thinks they would make a cute driving pair. His wife thinks they will make great little kids horses when they are done, as they don't seem to mind anything!  They are 4 years old and 14 hands tall.

Faith

A very sweet, kind 14 yr old TB/QH mare, who will be the first one to greet you in the morning with a soft nicker, and the first to meet you at the gate! Faith is currently with an awesome caregiver, who is instilling confidence and fun when "working" with her, Liberty Training.

Binnie

Her named was changed to Ellie by adopter.

Dixie

After coming into our rescue 4 years ago with a body score of 2, Dixie spent several months with us, getting everything she needed to be an appealing adoptable horse.  She was adopted in 2013, but through no fault of her own unloading from the trailer, she banged her head and ultimately lost sight in one eye.  Dixie was returned to us last spring, and was readily taken in by her pre-adoption foster mom, Clair Cabal.  Dixie always loved her "home" with Clair, and we can now say "CONGRATULATIONS" to the two!  Clair says "I have such peace in my heart that adopting Dixie was the right decision". YAY!

Penny

Penny was headed to the sale yard, deemed to be dangerous as she would come unglued when tied. So she was surrendered to us, and we discovered what happened to her and why never to tie her. We also discovered she was a 4-H Champion pleasure mare, and was adopted by a family with a young girl anxious to show. They were used to not tying a horse so it was a non issue for them. They have been true partners ever since.

Prissy

Not long after Prissy came, we discovered how wonderfully trained she was, both in the arena and out on trail rides.
As shown in the photo, her adopter got her into the show ring and is doing very well!
