Not to be
Forgotten
The equines on this page were and always will be part of WMERR. Sadly, each of
them has passed on and has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Each of them has their
own story and each of them had something to give. These equines hold a special
place in our hearts and this page is a reminder to us and our supporters of
why WMERR is here and all the lives that have been touched by these beautiful
and majestic creatures.
They are gone, but not forgotten!
Indy:
Aka IndyMaaan and Mean ole Mister Mustard, will forever be in our hearts, being
one of two with us for 9 years. Last year he was diagnosed with bleeding ulcers.
He was successfully treated and was his awesome self for a year and an half when
once again he let us know he just didn't feel good. Scoping his stomach showed
cancer. The heart wrenching final act of kindness...38 years old. He leaves
footprints on all of our hearts.

Sable:
Sable was with us 9 years. Such an amazingly sweet
and kind mare, and best friend to our Keisha. She had her best years
with us, and though we did everything humanly possible to keep her happy
and comfortable, there is no cure for extreme laminitis. We know she is
running pain free with her friends who were waiting for her. 1999 AQHA
mare at 15.1 hh. Amazingly calm, quiet and easy to get along with.

JOHNNY: This beautiful 11 year old QH gelding was saved from the
Sunnyside feedlot in WA last June by a woman in Alaska. Her intention
after quarantine was to get him to Alaska, but her husband's cancer
prohibited that, so he is being boarded at a facility in MT. She would
like us to find him a home. Per my questions/request, he is scheduled for
a dental check and float if needed, health and Coggins, de-worming,
vaccinations, and farrier work on Friday 3/30/218. He is 15.1 hh,
friendly, great to handle on the ground, loads and trailers well, good
with his feet, loves the company of other horses, and is good in the herd.
From the brief assessment by the folks where he is currently living, he
doesn't appear to have much, if any, training under saddle.

BROCK:
Not all mules are mulish. Brock makes our
case against the stereotype of the stubborn mule. He loves affection and
attention, is kind and gentle, and perfectly mannered for the farrier.
Brock is just looking for a place to hang out with friends to share his
wisdom and good sense. This 21 year old fella was much thinner when
rescued because his neglected teeth made it hard for him to gain weight.
Now he's slowly putting on some pounds with a soft grass/alfalfa mix
and some lightly soaked supplements.

Maudie
Our
dear Miss Maudie took her departure on October 21, 2015 for a family reunion
with her loved ones in the great pasture beyond. All of us, humans and horses,
learned a great deal from her. She had dignity and personality plus! We miss her
presence every day, honored to have had her in our company for four years. She
had our deepest respect and admiration.

Cherry
Cherry...she was
just that, the color of a dark, ripened cherry. After being here for two
weeks, she "told" me that if I would just leave her stall door open, she would
be our guard horse and not leave the property. So, having faith, I did
that. Every morning, Cherry's door would be opened and she would head out of
the barn, say hi to the other horses, graze peacefully on the lawn, approach
visitors as if to say, "state your business as this is my place". This was and
still is "Cherry's Place". She was on the front page of our local newspaper
more than once, one of the veterinarians considered her our mascot so to
speak. She is dearly missed.
Christiana
This little gal was
abandoned, left in a grassless area with no way to get to the stream for water
as it had iced on both sides. Christiana has since passed away due to cancer,
but she enjoyed three years of love with us.
